Free Guided Tours at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria — the BA Visits Department is organizing free guided tours every 15 minutes in different languages (Arabic, English, French, Italian, and German). During the tour, visitors listen to a brief on the history of the ancient Library of Alexandria, an overview on the efforts exerted to rebuild the new Library of Alexandria, the Library’s goals and objectives, and information on the Library’s departments and services offered to the public.

Children above 6 years and youth under 16 years are allowed in the tours. Children under 6 years are not allowed in the Library, and a special area is being prepared to host children during the visit of their parents to the BA.

The Visits Department is giving presentations for children (4-9 years) in the form of a simple story accompanied with pictures of the library and cartoon images explaining the history of the library, departments and activities of the library. The presentation is given for free for children under 6 years.

The Visits Department also presents the Culturama, an audiovisual presentation on Egypt’s history and civilization. The presentation is given on 9 panoramic screens designed by the BA Center for the Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (Cultnat). The Culturama is considered the first interactive 9 screens worldwide.
