Inauguration of the First BA Embassy of Knowledge outside Egypt at the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Washington

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated, via video conferencing, an Embassy of Knowledge at the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Washington. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Nassar, Consul of Egypt in Washington, on behalf of Ambassador Moataz Zahran, Ambassador of Egypt to the USA, and Dr. Heba Saad, Cultural Attaché at the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Washington. It was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the New Administrative Capital. This Embassy of Knowledge in Washington is the first embassy to be established abroad by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
In his speech, Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed out that this cooperation between the BA Cultural Outreach Sector, represented by the Embassies of Knowledge, and the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, represented by the Cultural Offices, comes within the framework of implementing a national strategy of building an integrated system for Egyptian cultural representation abroad that is aimed at showcasing and highlighting the diversity and richness of Egyptian culture.
The Minister also stressed that the creation of embassies of knowledge at Egyptian cultural offices abroad will provide an open environment that allows learning, while promoting the dissemination of Egyptian culture and highlighting its richness.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Zayed expressed his delight at the opening of an Embassy in Knowledge in Washington, which is the 25th Embassy founded by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Dr. Ayman Ashour and Dr. Ahmed Zayed signed a cooperation protocol between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Washington to activate the services of the Embassy of Knowledge, so that the Bureau can benefit from the multiple services offered by the Embassy to its patrons. These patrons can make use of the different scientific databases available at the Library and their varied topics that include all sciences and human knowledge.
