Egyptian-Chinese Relations at the BA Book Fair

As part of the cultural events of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair, a seminar entitled "Egyptian-Chinese Relations in the Islamic Era" was held today, with the participation of Mr. Yang Yi, Consul General of China in Alexandria, and Prof. Sahar Salem. The event was presented by Dr. Mohamed El-Gamal, Supervisor of the BA Center for Islamic Civilization Studies.
Consul General Yang Yi said that Egypt and China are two countries with an ancient civilization, which have coexisted in harmony throughout history.
He noted that Chinese history books have documented the city of Alexandria and the history of friendly exchanges between Egypt and China.
For her part, Dr. Sahar Salem discussed the Egyptian-Chinese relations in light of her book entitled Highlights on the Historical and Cultural Aspects between Egypt and China in the Islamic era, co-authored by Consul General Yang Yi. She pointed out that the book presents the milestones of Egyptian-Chinese relations, from the Tulunid era to the Fatimid, Ayyubid, and the Mamluk eras.
It is worth mentioning that the 19th edition of the BA International Book Fair is witnessing the participation of 77 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses, and runs from 15 to 28 July, in cooperation with the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Association.
