The BA Planetarium Science Center organized the third local edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (AIO 2026) in Egypt, with the participation of 350 students representing 35 schools, universities, and educational centers from various governorates across the country.
The championship is organized as part of the Planetarium Science Center's pioneering role in promoting the culture of science, technology, and innovation, and its continuous support for programs that nurture talented individuals and build capacities in the STEM and artificial intelligence fields.
The championship features competitions in five main categories that are among the most prominent fields of artificial intelligence worldwide, namely coding, cyber security, computer vision, embedded systems, and machine learning, reflecting the diversity of technical skills and depth of scientific content that the Center's management is keen to provide to participants.
The competitions are supervised by 60 specialists and experts, while 150 volunteers are taking part in the organization and management of the event, under the supervision of the Planetarium Science Center team, ensuring that the championship is held in a manner befitting Egypt's status and regional leadership in the fields of innovation and digital transformation.
The students who win the top places will qualify to represent Egypt in the Arab version of the Olympiad, which is due to take place in Egypt next May.
The competition is held under the gracious patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Alamein International University, the Arab Robotics Association, and the Robot Technology and Gifted Care Association, in a way that reflects the integration of efforts between state institutions, universities, and civil society organizations, an approach adopted by the Planetarium Science Center in all its programs and initiatives.
It is worth noting that the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad was launched in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan through the STEAM Center, and has witnessed remarkable expansion at the Arab level year after year. This year's Egyptian edition is organized and supervised by the BA Planetarium Science Center, confirming the Center's role as a key driver in supporting advanced technology competitions in Egypt.
