“The Political Leadership's Vision for Managing and Protecting World Heritage Sites” at the BA

As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and to protect and preserve it for future generations, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a seminar entitled “The Political Leadership's Vision for the Management and Protection of World Heritage Sites” on Sunday, 1 June 2025, at 12:00 pm, in the BACC Small Theater.
The seminar will be moderated by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and will feature a presentation by Major General Dr. Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the Egyptian President for Local Development and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Management of World Heritage Sites, who will highlight the vital role played by the Egyptian political leadership in developing effective strategies for the protection of World Heritage Sites. He will also highlight the importance of coordination between local and international institutions in implementing these strategies, and explain a number of initiatives adopted by the political leadership in Egypt to protect heritage.
The seminar will be attended by a select group of experts and specialists in the fields of archaeology, heritage, and culture, as well as senior government officials, a number of international figures interested in heritage, academics, and researchers specializing in heritage preservation.
