The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, headed by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, organized a seminar yesterday to launch the book Protecting Peoples in Times of War by Counselor Dr. Khaled El-Kady, in celebration of the World Law Day.

In his opening speech, Dr. Ahmed Zayed emphasized that the World Law Day reminds us all of the importance of justice and the rule of law as a pillar for protecting peoples and safeguarding human rights, particularly in light of the unprecedented challenges the world is facing.

For his part, Counselor Dr. Khaled El-Kady stressed that the book is not just a new publication, but rather the culmination of more than fifteen years of scholarly effort and a message from an Egyptian citizen to the conscience of the entire world about the need to protect civilians during armed conflicts.

He also explained that a free electronic copy of the book will be launched on the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's website to make it available to researchers and interested parties around the world.

The seminar was attended by a select group of legal, cultural, and intellectual figures who praised the book's scholarly and humanitarian value and commended the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in supporting international dialogue and spreading awareness of the law as a tool for protecting peoples and maintaining world peace.
