The BA Writing and Scripts Center organizes a webinar titled “Pyramid Texts in a Century of Studies” delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Abdel Sattar Ibrahim, Professor of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. It will take place on Sunday, 6 June 2021, at 7:00 pm, and will be broadcast via the Writing and Scripts Center Facebook page:

The lecture will shed light on the first publication of the Pyramid Texts by French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero in the late 19th century, as successive studies and research still uncover what these texts and spells contained. Dr. Ibrahim Abdel Sattar notes that the Pyramid Texts were carved on the pyramids of the kings and queens of the Old Kingdom, and appeared on several tombs, sarcophagi, and panels of the Middle Kingdom, in addition to the tombs and temples of the New Kingdom, the Late Period of Ancient Egypt and the Roman Era. They were also written on Canopic jars and papyri.
